Vol. 520 No. 4

Written Answers. - Respite Care.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

106 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Health and Children if respite care is available to the parents of children who suffer from Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder; if not, the plans he has to make such a provision; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15825/00]

Decisions in relation to respite care for parents, including parents of children suffering from ADHD, are a matter for each individual health board. Respite care may be pro vided by a health board to parents or families where appropriate, following an assessment of the circumstances of each case. If the Deputy is aware of a case in which respite care might be required, I would suggest that he make direct contact with the chief executive officer of the relevant health board.
