Vol. 520 No. 5

Written Answers. - Work Permits.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

102 Mr. Penrose asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she will outline the procedure involved for an Australian citizen, who is a fully qualified psychiatric nurse with a post graduate diploma in family therapy and who is married to an Irish citizen, to obtain a work permit, which would permit her to work in this country and apply for the various positions that are now available in the psychiatric profession; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16215/00]

An Australian national, married to an Irish citizen no longer requires a work permit to be issued on his or her behalf by my Department in order to work in this country. The issue of qualifications for working here as a psychiatric nurse would be a matter for my colleague, the Minister for Health and Children.
