204 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 293 of 19 April 2000 on the provision of the extra facilities required at Scoil Ui Riada, Kilcock, County Kildare, he will outline the progress on the project in the intervening period; the precise juncture in respect of the proposals at this stage; if any outstanding issues remain to be resolved in relation to the issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Further to my reply to the Deputy's question on 19 April 2000, architectural planning for the facilities in question is proceeding at present.

The Deputy will appreciate that the allocation of funding to capital projects by my Department depends on a number of factors such as the vol ume of applications on hand, the rate of progress of architectural design, site acquisition, the granting of planning permission and the outcome of the tender process. Delays can arise at any stage of the process, consequently it is not possible to say when projects being processed at present will proceed to construction.

The school authorities will be kept informed of developments.
