492 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science the plans, if any, he has to change the favourable marking system for students who take their leaving certificate through Irish; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18333/00]

The matter raised by the Deputy is the subject of a recommendation by the commission on the points system. The issues involved are currently being considered as part of the overall consideration by my Department of the commission's recommendations.
