210 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the responsible body for Lough Cullen bird sanctuary in south Kilkenny; the responsible authority for the security and protection of this sanctuary; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [18596/00]
Dúchas, the heritage service of my Department, is the responsible body for the bird sanctuary situated at Lough Cullen, County Kilkenny. The shooting of wild birds is prohibited in this area by an order made under section 24 of the Wildlife Act, 1976. If anyone observes this order being broken, they should advise the local conservation ranger for the area or the Garda.
