109 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Health and Children if, in view of his Department's recent decision to provide finance for the provision of adult MRI scanners at University College Hospital, Galway, Tallaght and St. James's Hospital, he will indicate the plans, if any, he has for the provision of MRI scanners specifically for children in the greater Dublin area and in the regions; if his Department has sought outside advice on this matter; if so, the conclusions drawn in this advice; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 27 and 109 together.

The Eastern Regional Health Authority task force, at the request of my Department, commissioned an external review of the need for dedicated paediatric MRI services in the eastern region. I have been informed that a draft report on the matter has now been received by the authority which will discuss the findings of this report with my Department in the near future.
