77 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will have his lands reassessed for the establishment of a forest plantation as he feels the land is suitable. [18866/00]
I understand that the site in question was deemed ineligible for afforestation grant aid on the grounds that it consists of poor quality wet bogland which would not be capable of producing a commercial crop of timber. If, notwithstanding the foregoing, the person in question wishes to appeal against the decision, I will arrange for a second site inspection.
