Ceist:

134 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the steps that were taken to ascertain the person responsible for the leaking of information to the media concerning the Criminal Asset Bureau's raid on offices (details supplied); the compensation paid by the State in this regard; and the disciplinary action taken against the person or persons responsible for this occurrence. I propose to take Questions Nos. 36 and 134 together.

Following the High Court judgment in this case, a senior Garda officer was appointed to investigate the matter. I am informed by the Garda Commissioner that, despite an exhaustive inquiry, the source of the leak has not been established to date.

In accordance with the High Court judgment, an amount of £100,00 was paid in compensation in this case.
