Vol. 523 No. 4

Written Answers. - Student Visas.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

205 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the progress to date on the application by a person (details supplied) for a study visa. [21308/00]

The visa application in question has recently been refused because it had not been established, on the basis of the documentation supplied to my Department, that the applicant would observe the conditions of a study visa. The application in question did not comply with my Department's student visa guidelines in that the applicant proposed to participate in a publicly funded course of education and had not displayed sufficient evidence of her obligations to return home following her stay.

It is open to the applicant to appeal against the refusal of a visa by writing to the visa appeals officer in my Department.
