Vol. 523 No. 4

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

John Perry

Ceist:

101 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance the progress he has made on the decentralisation policy; his views on whether that section of the Land Registry Office which deals with the western region would be best suited for relocation in the Sligo-Leitrim area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21026/00]

Denis Naughten

Ceist:

104 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Finance when he will bring proposals to Government in relation to the decentralisation of Government Departments; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21135/00]

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

107 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Finance the proposals he has to decentralise the remainder of the Land Registry, together with the Registry of Deeds, to Waterford city and the Govern ment Supplies Agency to Dungarvan, County Waterford.; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19174/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 101, 104 and 107 together.

My Department is currently engaged in a series of consultations with Civil Service management and the public service staff unions on a new programme of decentralisation. The Government has not yet taken any decisions on the Departments, offices, or agencies or the particular centres which will be included in the new programme. Until such time as the Government has had the opportunity to consider all of the aspects relating to the new programme and taken into account the views which will be expressed in the context of the ongoing consultations, it would be inappropriate for me to express any views as to the inclusion of any particular Department, office, or agency or centre in the new programme.

I intend that the Government will be in a position to take decisions in relation to the new programme by the end of the year.
