226 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the present programme for library buildings in County Galway; the proposals for library refurbishment and new libraries in the county in the next five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21582/00]
It is a matter for each library authority to determine its own library development programme. Grant aid is provided by my Department to library authorities for the development of approved projects, and I have recently written to each local authority requesting a list of prioritised library projects. My Department is currently awaiting a response from Galway County Council in this regard.
