137 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his attention has been drawn to the criticism of the Dublin city manager with regard to the inadequacies of legislation in relation to the control of telecommunications related roadworks; the action he has taken to date to curb the number of roadworks which are seriously affecting traffic flow and general quality of life in Dublin city; the plans he has to introduce legislation to allow for the control by local authorities of such activity, the introduction of appropriate charges and compensation for the disruption caused; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
