Vol. 524 No. 6

Written Answers. - Departmental Properties.

Ulick Burke

Ceist:

204 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the purchase by the State of the 350 acre estate at Sallins, County Kildare; if it was purchased at the request of the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development for agricultural research; if the Office of Public Works has taken on a new area of responsibility; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23570/00]

The 350 acre farm at Sallins was purchased at the request of the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development which intends to use it for agricultural purposes. The Office of Public Works is the Government's principal property agency and the purchase of the farm is part of the normal responsibilities of the office.
