Vol. 524 No. 6

Written Answers. - Ruhama Women's Project.

Frances Fitzgerald

Ceist:

226 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will increase the funding to Ruhama Women's Project in Dublin in order that it can develop basic service provision to women in need of these services. [23595/00]

The provision of funding for voluntary agencies, including the Ruhama Project, is the statutory responsibility of the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the three area health boards. I have been informed by the authority that Ruhama receives funding from the East Coast Area Health Board. This funding has been increased from £50,000 in 1999 to £75,000 in 2000. I am further informed that if a proposal for increased funding is received by the authority for the Ruhama Project that such a proposal would be given consideration.
