Vol. 524 No. 6

Written Answers. - Hospital Closures.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

231 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department has carried out an assessment of the impact of the closure of the Bon Secours Hospital in Tuam, County Galway, on the delivery of health services in the Western Health Board area. [23600/00]

The provision of health services in the Western Health Board area is the responsibility of the Western Health Board in the first instance. As the Deputy will be aware, the Bon Secours Hospital, Tuam, is a private hospital, and, accordingly, I have no role in the provision of services at that hospital. I understand that a special meeting of the Western Health Board will take place on 3 November 2000 and that the impact of the closure of the Bon Secours Hospital, Tuam, will be discussed at that meeting.
