Vol. 524 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dúchas Operations.

John Perry

Ceist:

267 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the reason Dúchas personnel were on the property of a person (details supplied) in County Sligo in view of the fact that the land owner was not notified nor was his authorisation sought; if any further visits are necessary; if the land owner will be notified; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23517/00]

My Department is in the process of compiling data for an archaeological inventory of County Sligo. In this context, an archaeologist with my Department was on the land referred to by the Deputy in order to carry out an inspection of a number of national monuments. This inspection was necessary so that the monuments can be included in the archaeological inventory of County Sligo, which my Department hopes to publish in the near future. It is not expected that further visits will be necessary.
