Vol. 524 No. 6

Written Answers. - Farm Partnerships.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

112 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development his Department's policy on the promotion of farm partnerships between neighbouring farmers; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that there are obstacles contained in some of the schemes administered by his Department which are discouraging farm partnership; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22929/00]

My Department is in favour of making provision for partnerships between neighbouring farmers. There may, of course, be implications for such partnerships in the context of disease eradication measures, quotas, premia schemes and other schemes depending on the exact arrangements.

In the dairy sector I have already made general provision for partnerships in the new milk quota regulations and I hope to announce the detailed rules governing such partnerships in that sector in the near future.
