Vol. 524 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

P. J. Sheehan

Ceist:

172 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will have considerations made into the payment of supplementary grants to island farmers who participate in farm development schemes, in view of the exorbitant costs incurred by such farmers in the transport of building materials and others from the mainland for such schemes. [20727/00]

It is proposed that the standard costings used by my Department to cost works eligible for grant under the on-farm investment schemes will be increased by 25% in the case of applications from the islands to assist with the cost of transportation of building materials and services from the mainland. This will provide for a higher level of grant aid, subject to the investment ceilings set down under each scheme.
