Vol. 525 No. 1

Written Answers. - Voluntary Housing.

Deirdre Clune

Ceist:

150 Ms Clune asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the progress made by the working group on the voluntary housing sector; the membership of this group; the number of times it has met; when he expects to receive its final report; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23686/00]

The working group on voluntary and co-operative housing was set up last May and has held four meetings to date. A list of the membership is set out in the table below.

I understand that the working group decided at its first meeting that recommendations on particular issues would be presented as they are finalised and that any final report would encompass the various individual reports.

I understand that a variety of issues are currently under consideration by the group including direct access to the Housing Finance Agency for funding for approved voluntary housing bodies, the terms of the voluntary housing schemes, affordable housing, the implications of Part V of the Planning Act for the sector, funding for running costs incurred by housing associations in their projects and the preparation of consolidated guidelines for the voluntary housing schemes.
