Vol. 525 No. 1

Written Answers. - Multi-Annual Budgeting.

Emmet Stagg

Ceist:

31 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Finance if he will confirm that he proposes to take no further steps to introduce multi-annual budgeting; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23484/00]

Multi-annual budgeting has put in place a framework within which the Government can decide its overall budgetary, taxation and expenditure priorities in a medium term context. Projections for multi-annual budgetary aggregates for both revenue and expenditure are published on budget day.

The allocation of resources over the next three years for most major spending programmes has been addressed in the context of the national development plan and in the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness. The allocation of resources to the relatively limited programme areas which are not covered by the NDP and PPF will be settled when deciding the annual Estimates.
