Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

318 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the current situation regarding proposals to decentralise part of his Department to Clonakilty, County Cork; the negotiations which have been concluded with staff unions on this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24040/00]

Paul Bradford

Ceist:

351 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the proposals there are to decentralise any units of his Department at South Mall, Cork to other areas of the county; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24594/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 318 and 351 together.

There are plans to relocate to Clonakilty some of the veterinary and livestock functions from the Department's offices in Cork city. Full planning permission issued recently from Cork County Council for the development of new offices in Clonakilty. I expect work to start on the development shortly. Meetings with staff unions will be held over the period of development of the offices.
