I have made a total of 137 appointments to State boards since taking office detailed as follows: most appointments do not entail payment of a fee. Where fees are payable, following is the scale of fees. The chairs of the Irish Film Board, the Heritage Council and the Independent Radio and Television Commission each receive a fee of £3,000 and members receive a fee of £2,000. The chairs of the Irish Museum of Modern Art, the National Concert Hall, the Irish Manuscripts Commission and the Arts Council each receive a fee of £3,000.
The chair of the RTE Authority receives a fee of £6,000 and members of the authority receive a fee of £4,000. The chair of Údarás na Gaeltachta receives a fee of £6,000 and members receive a fee of £4,000. In the case of the present chairman an annual fee of £26,925 is being paid to him on the basis of a three day working week in the role. The chair of An Foras Teanga receives a fee of £8,000 – £6,400 sterling – the vice chair £6,500 – £5,200 sterling – and members £5,000 – £4,000 sterling.
