778 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will ensure that some of the 500 new gardaí he has announced will be allocated as additional staff for the Bray/Glendalough/Roundwood areas in County Wicklow; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23956/00]
While I, as Minister, am responsible for providing additional Garda personnel, their detailed allocation to an individual area is a matter for the Garda authorities.
In this regard, I am informed that, when additional Garda personnel are being allocated, the needs of the Bray/Glendalough/Roundwood areas will be fully considered within the overall context of the needs of all Garda districts throughout the country.
