Vol. 525 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Paul McGrath

Ceist:

858 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will confirm that an application has been received from a school (details supplied) in County Westmeath to replace prefabs, extend the school and improve facilities; the procedures to be undertaken to bring this project to fruition; the expected time frame for completion of this project. [24205/00]

The post-primary building unit of my Department received an application from the management authority of the school to which the Deputy refers to replace prefabricated accommodation, extend the school and improve facilities there.

Approval was recently given to the management authority to engage an architect to prepare a feasibility study on the fabric of the school and to recommend options for the redevelopment of the campus.

The results of the feasibility study will assist the management authority and my Department to decide on the most appropriate course of action to follow in this case.
