Vol. 525 No. 3

Written Answers. - Driving Tests.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

238 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the current waiting period for a driving test in the Dublin region; if he will give a breakdown for each centre; the likely improvements in the waiting period in the months ahead; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24253/00]

The average waiting times for a driving test in the test centres in the Dublin area are set out in the following table:

Centre

Average Weeks Waiting

Churchtown

19

Finglas

21

Raheny

19

Rathgar

22

Tallaght

20

A longest time of about ten weeks has already been approached in a number of centres outside of Dublin. It is anticipated that the target of ten weeks longest waiting time will be achieved nationally by September 2001 or shortly thereafter.
Question No. 239 taken with Question No. 148.
