Vol. 525 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dublin Traffic Management.

Ivan Yates

Ceist:

302 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the proposals he has to review the role or activities of the Dublin Transportation Office or to give it further executive functions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24974/00]

The Dublin Transportation Office, DTO, has been established since 1995 to co-ordinate, promote and review an integrated transport strategy for the Dublin region. In its recent policy document, A Platform for Change, which updates the Dublin Transportation Initiative, the DTO offered certain tentative suggestions for improving institutional arrangements for the strategic use planning and co-ordination of land use and transport in the greater Dublin area.

The Cabinet committee on infrastructural development will also consider these institutional issues shortly and will have regard in this context to the analysis put forward by DTO.
