Written Answers. - OPW Projects.

Emmet Stagg

Ceist:

190 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Finance the conditions attached by the Office of Public Works to the lease of the former Sligo Model School premises at Rathquarter, Sligo to Sligo County Council; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that on 6 November 2000 Sligo County Council, by resolution, formally decided to sub-lease the property to a company which is not registered in the Companies Registration Office, does not have Articles of Association and does not have a secretary or official address; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26055/00]

Under the terms of the lease, which the Deputy refers to, Sligo County Council may sub-lease the former model school to a nominated company, The Model Arts and Niland Gallery Ltd. which will manage the property as an arts centre, subject to the terms and conditions laid down in the head lease.

I understand the nominated company is currently being formed and that it will be registered in the Companies Registration office shortly. The company will also have Articles of Association and will comprise of nominees from Sligo County Council, Sligo corporation, the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands and/or the Arts Council and the Model Arts Centre.

I understand also that Sligo County Council passed a resolution on 6 November, which formally decided to sub-lease the property to The Model Arts and Niland Gallery Ltd., so as to facilitate the speedy transfer of the property to the company, as soon as it formally comes into operation.
