Asylum seekers who are granted refugee status in this country no longer require work permits to work here. Asylum seekers whose cases are not yet determined and who are allowed to work, receive a special letter from the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform to that effect and their employer does not have to apply for a work permit in respect of them.
