166 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she has held discussions over the past three months with Bord Gáis on their plans to build a second natural gas inter-connector from Scotland to Ireland; and if so if she has received an assessment from Bord Gáis on the proposed funding sources for such a project, including private sector investment. I have met with representatives of Bord Gais Éireann during the past three months and their proposal to build a second interconnector was one of a number of issues that was discussed during those meetings.
Regarding the question of funding for this project, BGE has submitted proposals in this regard but further discussions on these proposals are necessary before any decisions are made from a shareholder's viewpoint.
