133 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received an application for appointment of a resource teacher to a school (details supplied) in County Mayo; if he has had examinations made into this application; if he will authorise the appointment of a resource teacher arising from the evidence supplied to him; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I understand that the school in question has the services of a resource teacher which it shares with two other schools in the area. Also, since June 2000 the school has been allocated an additional five hours resource teacher support per week.
I have asked my Department's inspectorate to examine the adequacy of the resource teacher support currently being made available to the school. As soon as the inspector's report has been considered, my Department will be in further contact with the school authorities.
