Vol. 526 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

137 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science the current position in relation to the construction of a new school at Coláiste Chionn Torc, Castlepollard, County Westmeath; if all planning steps by his Department have now been finalised; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26112/00]

Stage two, outline sketch scheme, of my Department's design team procedures has been approved for the proposed new school at Castlepollard.

The post primary building unit of my Department awaits a stage three, developed sketch scheme, submission. It is envisaged that the project will proceed quickly through the remaining stages of architectural planning.

Dan Neville

Ceist:

138 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Education and Science when an extension to a school (details supplied) in County Limerick will be completed. [26113/00]

I can confirm that my Department has received an application from the management authorities of the school in question for grant-aid towards an extension. The application is one of a large volume of applications on hand within my Department and it will be processed as quickly as possibly. It is too early to say at this point if funding will be approved.

The school authorities will be kept informed of developments.
