Ceist:

395 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will report on the delay in the planning section of his Department which is holding up the building of an extension at Scoil Thulach Chadhain which was due to start in July 2000 which was outlined to him in a meeting with the board of management in January 2000 and where there still has been no progress; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has already announced its intention to invite tenders in respect of the above project, the requisite notice having been published in the local and national press on 9 November last. The closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon on 23 November next.

It is not possible, in advance of the review of tenders, to provide a definitive time scale as to when construction will commence. The school authorities will be kept informed of developments.
