Vol. 527 No. 1

Written Answers. - Medical Services.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

99 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will request a full report from the health boards involved in the decision to transport an elderly, seriously ill patient, from St. James's Hospital, Dublin 8, to Tullamore, County Offaly, and finally St. Luke's, County Kilkenny, in the one journey; the reason the transfer was made at all in view of her medical condition following a serious operation; and if the details of the case will be made available to the family concerned. [27886/00]

The provision of medical services to eligible per sons in St. James's Hospital, Dublin is, in this instance, the statutory responsibility of the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has asked the regional chief executive of the Authority to investigate the position in relation to the matter and reply to the Deputy directly.
