173 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will sanction a grant to an organisation (details supplied) which has made a request for a grant to enable it to carry on work in areas of high need and extensive social deprivation; if he has satisfied himself that his Department has received all necessary details in relation to the application and that no further information is required in order to confirm before the end of 2000 to the organisation that it will receive a grant of £30,000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. A grant of £16,456 is being allowed towards the cost of the disadvantaged youth project operated by the organisation in question in the current year. Due to the large number of applications received, it was not possible to accede to the request for grant amounting to £30,000.

Application forms for the year 2001 have issued to all administering agencies. It will be open to the organisation in question to re-apply next year. When the application is received it will be considered together with other applications in the context of the funds made available for the scheme in 2001.
