184 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the financial support available for group sewerage schemes; the plans he has to improve the level of such support in view of the value of these types of scheme in our rural communities and countryside; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Grants of up to £1,600 per house are available where two or more householders jointly provide a common sewage collection and disposal system. An examination of group sewerage scheme grants by the national rural water monitoring committee is ongoing and I will carefully consider any recommendations that may emanate from that examination.
