222 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will arrange to have a full-time physical education teacher appointed to a school (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; if adequate resources and equipment will be made available to run a comprehensive programme; if he will arrange to have changing facilities provided to this school as a matter of urgency; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In the vocational sector, the teacher allocation is generally determined on a VEC scheme basis rather than on an individual school basis. It is a matter for the chief executive officer, with the agreement of the VEC concerned, to allocate teachers from within the overall approved allocation for the scheme to the individual schools within the scheme.
My Department's planning and building unit is currently considering the overall accommodation needs of this school complex, including the provision of additional accommodation in terms of the projected long-term enrolments.
