Emmet Stagg

Ceist:

248 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to the extension to Scoil Dara post-primary school, Kilcock, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29175/00]

The stages 4-5 – detailed design and bill of quantities – submissions in respect of the proposed building works at Scoil Dara, Kilcock, County Kildare, were received in the building unit of my Department on 10 November 2000. The submissions are currently being examined. Upon completion of this examination and providing that they are in order, the question of authorising the invitation of tenders will be considered.

Ceist:

249 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Education and Science if the schedule of residual accommodation has been drawn up for Maynooth post primary school, Maynooth, County Kildare; if the architectural planning for the extension to the school is now proceeding; when a planning application will be lodged for the extension; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29176/00]

My Department's planning and building unit has issued to County Kildare Vocational Education Committee a revised schedule of accommodation in respect of the proposed extension at Maynooth post-primary school for its consideration and acceptance.

This schedule reflects the increase in the long-term projected enrolment figures from 800 to 850 following an appeal by the chief executive officer of County Kildare Vocational Educational Committee.

A positive response has now been received from the committee and my Department's post primary building unit will be in touch shortly with the chief executive officer regarding approval to proceed to the next stage of architectural planning.

At this early stage, it is not possible to say when a planning application will be lodged.
