72 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Health and Children when he expects to publish the promised new anti-tobacco legislation; if he has received Government approval for his proposals; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28939/00]
The Government, at its meeting on 3 October 2000, approved the drafting of the heads and general scheme of a Bill to give effect to the proposals in the policy document Towards a Tobacco Free Society, which I launched on 7 March this year. Work is urgently under way in my Department and I hope to submit the heads and general scheme to the Government for approval as quickly as possible.
