Vol. 528 No. 1

Written Answers. - Regional Road Network.

Dinny McGinley

Ceist:

302 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide funds to allow work to continue on the R251 Road; known as the Back of Errigal Road in Donegal in view of the importance of this road from the industrial estate in Derrybeg, County Donegal. [29746/00]

Donegal County Council recently submitted 19 projects totalling £4.575 million for funding under the EU co-financed specific improvement grants scheme in 2001. One of these projects was the R251 – Glenveagh-Dunlewey as referred to in the question.

These projects, together with all applications under the specific improvement grants scheme, are being considered in my Department having regard to their compliance with the eligibility criteria, the need to prioritise projects, competing demands from other local authorities and the funds available for the scheme in 2001.
I will announce the 2001 non-national road grant allocations, including the specific improvement grant allocations, early in the new year.
