350 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will list the accommodation that was provided for asylum seekers in each of the years 1997, 1998, 1999 and to date in 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29204/00]
The directorate for asylum support services was established in November 1999 under the aegis of my Department to deal with matters relating to the dispersal of asylum seekers throughout the country and preparation of plans for a system of direct provision of housing, welfare needs, etc.
Before November 1999 the Eastern Health Board was responsible for the provision of accommodation for asylum seekers. Since November 1999 the Directorate for Asylum Support Services has provided the following list of accommodation for asylum seekers.
