Vol. 528 No. 2

Written Answers. - General Practitioner Services.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

140 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has received the report on the Review of General Practitioners Services carried out by the health board chief executives; and the decisions he will take in this regard. [29881/00]

The review dealing with the future development of general medical practice, carried out by the health board chief executive officers, has recently been forwarded to me. It is a wide-ranging report and when I have considered and examined it, I propose to engage in a far-reaching consultative exercise with all the relevant bodies, in particular the Irish Medical Organisation, IMO, and the Irish College of General Practitioners, ICGP.

I should add, in that regard, that I have also received a joint vision statement, prepared by the IMO and the ICGP, on their perspective for the future of general practice and the consultative process to be engaged in will have regard to that document too.
