Vol. 528 No. 2

Written Answers. - Health Centres.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

155 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children the plans he has to bring about improvements at a health centre (details supplied) in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30023/00]

The provision and maintenance of health centres in County Waterford is a matter for the South Eastern Health Board in the first instance.

I have been advised by the South Eastern Health Board that the health centre to which the Deputy's question refers is an old centre which requires a significant level of internal upgrading. While there is a public health nurse based at the centre, very few other services are provided there. I have also been advised that the board will be reviewing the long-term use of the health centre and that any upgrading, including the provision of car parking facilities, will be considered in the context of the long-term use of the centre.
