Ceist:

274 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in regard to the adequacy of school places and facilities at Rathmore National School, Naas, County Kildare; the schedule in respect of his plans to meet requirements; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30404/00]

As I indicated to the Deputy in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 437 of 21 November 2000, it is envisaged that, following the completion of the school building project at Rathmore, there will be sufficient primary school provision to meet the current demand. Architectural planning is proceeding for the provision of a new eight classroom primary school at Rathmore, County Kildare. The school authorities will be kept informed of developments.

Ceist:

275 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in respect of the provision of the extra facilities required at Scoil Dara, Kilcock, County Kildare; the progress to date in respect of the provision of same; the various formalities still to be undergone; the nature and extent of the facilities now involved; if he has satisfied himself as to the adequacy of places at the school to meet the demand; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30405/00]

The stage 4-5, detailed design and bill of quantities, submissions in respect of the proposed building works at Scoil Dara, Kilcock, County Kildare, were received in the building unit of my Department on 10 November 2000. These submissions are currently being examined within my Department. Upon completion of this examination and providing that they are in order, the question of authorising the invitation of tenders will be considered. I am satisfied that the provision of 1897 of additional accommodation is adequate to meet the demand of pupil places at this school.
