Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Finucane

Ceist:

439 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a dairy hygiene grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick. [2365/01]

A grant under the dairy hygiene scheme will issue to the person named within the next three weeks.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

440 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a suckler grant payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2408/01]

The person named submitted an application for four animals under the 2000 suckler cow premium scheme for small scale milk producers.

The records supplied by his dairy to my Department show that he held a milk quota of 11,806 gallons at 31 March 2000/1 April 2000. He declared on his suckler cow application that there were a total of 13 cows in his herd. To determine the number of cows required to fill the milk quota, the quota must be divided by 876 – the national average yield in gallons per cow. In the case of the person named the number of cows needed to fill the milk quota is 13.47. As all cows in the herd of the person named are required to fill the milk quota of 11,806 gallons he is not eligible for payment under the 2000 suckler cow premium scheme of small scale milk producers.
