My Department operates two schemes aimed at assisting in the development of sport and recreational facilities throughout the country, the sports capital programme and the local authority swimming pool programme. I am satisfied, based on many years' experience, that there will be sufficient demand from sport and recreational organisations as well as local authorities to fully and effectively use the funds available.
