Vol. 529 No. 3

Written Answers. - Harbour Authorities.

Gerry Reynolds

Ceist:

84 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the reason for the delay in Sligo Harbour Authority consenting to the transfer of a lease between two companies (details supplied). [2825/01]

This is a matter, in the first instance, for Sligo Harbour Commissioners who are the responsible authority for the management, control and operation of Sligo Harbour under the Harbours Act, 1946.

The Chief State Solicitor's Office is currently examining the leases provided by Sligo Harbour Commissioners in this regard in order to determine whether or not ministerial consent to the transfer is required under the Harbours Act, 1946.

In any event, I am informed by Sligo Harbour Commissioners that the delays experienced were the result of rent arrears and an overdue rent review on the lease and that the matter is currently being negotiated.
