Vol. 529 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

172 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 274 of 24 October 2000 regarding a person (details supplied) in County Cork, he will now request the Southern Health Board to respond; and if he will further investigate the situation in view of the fact that the family maintain they were never informed of the availability of a bed at the National Rehabilitation Hospital, Dún Laoghaire. [3117/01]

In my reply to the Deputy's previous question on this matter on 24 October 2000, I informed him that I was contacting the chief executive officer at the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the Southern Health Board to examine the issues raised and reply to the Deputy on this matter urgently. From inquiries which I have made with the respective chief executive officers, I understand that the Southern Health Board wrote to the Deputy on 12 November 2000 and the Eastern Regional Health Authority wrote to the Deputy on 21 December 2000, outlining their position on the matter.

I have asked the chief executive officer at the Eastern Regional Health Authority to examine the further issue raised by the Deputy and reply directly to him as a matter of urgency.
