Vol. 529 No. 4

Written Answers. - Labour Relations Commission.

Róisín Shortall

Ceist:

89 Ms Shortall asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the steps being taken to provide additional staff or resources for the Labour Relations Commission having regard to the record number of cases now being referred to it and the consequent strains being placed on the commission's services; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3016/01]

I have secured additional resources for the Labour Relations Commission in response to the increased demand for its services. An additional rights commissioner will shortly be appointed to the rights commissioner service and extra financial resources been have approved for expenditure on information technology systems and its travel budget.

These additional resources are intended to ensure that the Labour Relations Commission can continue to respond promptly to referrals to its conciliation and rights commissioner service.

Question No. 90 answered with Question No. 60.
