Ceist:240 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Health and Children the progress being made with regard to the provision of an extension to a health centre (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and when work will commence. [4701/01]

Minister for Health and Children (Mr. Martin): The provision of health centres in County Kilkenny is, in the first instance, a matter for the South Eastern Health Board. I am advised by that health board that provision has been made under the national development plan for the purchase of a site for the extension and refurbishment of the health centre in Callan. A brief has been prepared, sketch plans have been drawn up and the board is finalising negotiations with existing local land owners. Once the transfer has been completed the South Eastern Health Board will be applying for planning permission.
