Vol. 530 No. 6

Written Answers. - Speech Therapy Service.

Ceist:

274 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will ensure that a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6 receives urgently needed speech therapy; if he will ask all the community care areas in the health board to consider taking this person on, as the local service is full; and the emergency steps he will take to ensure that there are sufficient speech therapists to immediately tackle the backlog. [4858/01]

The provision of health related services, including speech and language therapy, to people with physical and sensory disabilities is a matter for the relevant health board. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer of the Eastern Regional Health Authority with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
